AUSTRALIAN CUSTOMS AND QUARANTINE CONTROL
When you arrive in Australia complete all documentation and know which items in your luggage you'll need to declare.
DOCUMENTS REQUIRED FOR CUSTOMS CLEARANCE
All arriving passengers must complete an Incoming Passenger Card, and present their passport and completed Incoming Passenger Card to an Australian Customs officer on arrival.
Items you Must Declare on Arrival:
Food, plants, animals and biological goods - You must declare food items, plant material, animal items, pet equipment, biological materials, soils and sand.
Drugs - Penalties for drug offsets are severe.
Performance enhancing drugs
Medicines which may be subject to misuse, abuse or dependence
Traditional medicines containing endangered plant or animal products
Prescription medicines - no more than three months' supply
Protected wildlife including coral, orchids, caviar and ivory products
Heritage-listed goods including art, stamps, coins, archaeological objects, minerals and specimens
Veterinary products
Firearms, weapons, and ammunition
Illegal pornography
Currency in amounts of A $ 10,000 or more
Defense and strategic goods
DECLARING RESTRICTED ITEMS
There are penalties for not declaring illegal and restricted items and for making false declarations on your Incoming or Outgoing Passenger Card. If you're in doubt, declare your goods or ask a Customs officer for advice.
When Arriving in Australia:
Your baggage may be X-rayed.
Counterfeit or pirated items may be designated.
You can not take aerosols or sharp objects in your carry-on luggage.
Customs officers may question you.
Trained dogs may be used to detect illegal drugs or imports.
Fireworks, flammable liquids, corrosives, gas cylinders are banned.
Laptops and similar electronic equipment are duty-free, provided you take them with you when you leave.
You must hold an individual international yellow fever violation certificate if you have stayed overnight or longer in a declared yellow fever infected country within six days prior to your arrival in Australia.
